Which power station do I need?

Tick the devices you want to run, adjust the hours, and see what size of portable power station covers a full day — and which models fit.

Watts are typical values. The label on your device or its charger is more accurate.

—Energy per day
—Peak load (all on at once)
—Battery size for one day

How the calculation works

Energy per day is each device's average watts × hours of use, added up. A fridge counts at about a third of its running watts, because its compressor cycles on and off. About 85% of a station's rated capacity reaches your devices; the rest is lost in the inverter. The station's continuous AC output must also be higher than everything you run at the same time. Quick answers

How long will a 1,000 Wh power station last?

Divide about 850 usable watt-hours by your load. A 50 W laptop runs about 17 hours; a fridge averaging 50 W, about 17 hours; a 1,500 W space heater, about 34 minutes. See the runtime guides for each device.

Watts or watt-hours — which matters?

Watt-hours (Wh) are the size of the tank and decide how long things run. Watts (W) are how much the station can deliver at once and decide what you can run. You need enough of both.
